About

Issy Eberlin (b. 2000, New Zealand) is an oil painter who lives, works and studies in London. She is recent graduate of City and Guilds of London Art School where she studied BA Fine Art (2021-2024). Looking for the chaos, beauty and oddness in the ordinary, Eberlin is driven by senses, memories and moments. She often works with familiar motifs, where the simple imagery competes with complex marks. Layer upon layer new brushstrokes veil the old, leaving small traces, whilst previous marks and colours emerge through the gaps. Ebbing and flowing between working fast and slow, Eberlin paints, scrapes and reworks until the work holds the grit, honesty and agency that she seeks.
